Her Name Is Lolla

I previously blogged about Bone1, whom was skinned by Skin Jam. As an artist myself, carrying around a customized phone, which wasn't customized by me, just didn't feel right. So after several lost hours, and hilarious audio of Dave Chappelle, I キラキラ (kira kira, Japanese for bling bling) my iPhone and hence renamed her Lady Lolla. She's a lethal mail-in bride from Russia and did I mention she used to be a showgirl?

Hello Tokyo!

The first night upon my Tokyo arrival, I met up with my ex-roomate, Kay. Relying on my vague remembrance of Shibuya, I could only met her at the legendary Hachiko, a Shibuya fixture, within steps to one of the busiest intersection in the world. Shibuya is well known for its scramble crossing, where vehicles are stopped in all directions to allow pedestrians to inundate the entire intersection. It was almost impossible to spot Kay, but I did find myself a handful of street tatsujin.

Miyuki 美幸 (19)

I spotted Miyuki from behind and I was magnetized with her high collar jacket and above-the-kneepitch-black leather bootie. But when I approached her, I was disappointed to see what she wore in front. Maybe if she had zipped up her jacket, it'd be perfect.

Ayumi (21)

Ayumi 亜由美 (21) - Shibuya, Japan

My Clothing & Textile teacher gave the whole class a lesson on colour theory close to the last few days of  the term. Apparently a flock of fashion elites had decided  the worst colour combination is pink and brown. As it turned out, I didn't do so good in that term; for my project I made a brown hoodie with pink baseball sleeves.

Ayumi looks adorably dolly in her pink pea coat. Needless to say, the length of the coat goes nicely with her pink heels. Meet modern day, Japanese Audrey Hepburn.

Territorial Scheme

Mere two weeks ago, two giant pandas from China, captivated thousands of  Taiwanese and its media. China presented the two 4-year old pandas as a friendly gesture to ease the tension between China and Taiwan, which the two split after the civil war in 1949.

China named the pandas, Tuan Tuan and Yuen Yuen, which together means "reunion". It's an undeniable propaganda tactic that China uses to proclaim Taiwan as part of China.

Leopard Effect

Bone One (23 days old)

I have been a product of merchandising machine for years. In their data base, I'd be categorized under print>animal>leopard. My love for leopard has become greater than addiction, like cigarettes, it's impossible to escape. Yesterday I skinned my Bone1 (iPhone) back to his basic animal build.

The work is done by SkinJam, located at NewYork New York Plaza in Taipei. It costs $NT400 (CDN $16) with a family & friends 50% off discount. The work is delicate, like a tighten Saran wrap without the crease. It's expanding oversea, including Canada, for once.

A Miss

Amy (18) - Taipei

In the center of an intersection in Ximending, I saw a live advertisement for nail art. Interestingly enough, she held a banner with no direction of the advertised shop and missed the opportunity to fully showcase the delicacy of nail art; she did not do matching pedicure. Worse, she didn't wear any colour.

Egg (20) - Taipei

Taiwanese girls are known for pirating their fashion style strictly from Japan or Korea. Their availability to consume is so impressive that many travel to Japan monthly just to scratch their shopping itch. This is the so called "sweet princess" style in which young girls doll themselves up like Barbie and everything pink. She's wearing a fur kolpik hat in a weather that is 15 degree Celsius. Anything for furshion.
